Did you know that…

-The first electric tree decorations were used way back in 1895.

-In the Ukraine, families prepare a traditional twelve-course meal. The youngest child will watch through the window for the evening star to appear, which signals that the magnificent feast can begin.

-Christmas trees have been popular in Germany since the sixteenth century, and they were first introduced inn England, during the reign of Queen Victoria's, whose husband, Albert, came from Germany. The earliest known mention of a Christmas tree in the United States is in the diary of a German who settled in Pennsylvania.

-The tradition of eating mince pies at Christmas dates back to the 16th century in Britain. Many people still believe in the belief that if you eat a mince pie on each of the twelve days of Christmas you will receive twelve happy months in the following year. Many people also believe that if a wish is made while mixing the Christmas pudding, it will only come true if the ingredients are stirred in a clockwise direction.

And finally, ending our Christmas trivia on a sweet note…

-Candy canes started off as straight white sticks of sugar candy used to decorate the Christmas trees. However, a choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral bent the end of the sugary treat so it would represent a shepherd's crook and they would be passed out to the children to keep them quiet during the services. It wasn't until the 20th Century that candy canes acquired their red stripes and became the traditional sweet we recognize today.

Now you can impress your friends with all your knowledge about
